Program Alumni Spotlight: Royetta Hutchins

February 11, 2026 | By |

We’re proud of our program graduates and praise God for their continued growth and mentoring of others to grow their faith and walk in Jesus! For this month, we’re highlighting Royetta’s journey to becoming a spiritual mentor and teacher, helping others grow in Christ.

Why did you join The S.A.L.T. Connection program?

I initially joined the nine-month program to participate in a small-group Bible study and deepen my understanding of God’s Word.

What challenges did our program help you with?

One of the challenges The S.A.L.T. Connection program helped me with was my tendency to seek validation from others rather than from God. Before SALT, I often measured my worth by people’s opinions, approval, or expectations, which affected my confidence and decision-making.

Through the program, I learned to better understand my identity in Christ and to recognize that my value comes from who God says I am, not from external affirmation. The S.A.L.T. Connection helped me grow spiritually and a deepen my relationship with God.

How has our program helped you pour into others?

The S.A.L.T. Connection has helped me gain confidence in sharing God’s Word and pouring into others. I’ve been able to continue serving as a teacher and spiritual mentor within the organization, as well as teach in other settings. The nonprofit’s program strengthened my faith and gave me the confidence to lead, encourage, and support others in their walk with Christ.

What is one main reason you would encourage another woman to join our program?

I would encourage women to join The S.A.L.T. Connection program because it provides a positive, supportive environment with like-minded women who are growing in their faith and correctly dividing the Word of God. It’s a space where genuine relationships are built, many of which continue and grow even beyond the nine-month program.

Where Am I in This Season of Life?

February 9, 2026 | By |

“Where am I, in my love for Jesus and others?”

That single question invited me into an honest self-examination—one that speaks not only to this season of my life, but to the posture of my heart. As you read, I invite you to take this journey with me as I reflect on three truths connected to that question.

Where Am I?

I am exactly where God has chosen me to be.

There was a time when I believed God could not use me, but I now know the truth: El Roi sees me. I am not forgotten, overlooked, or misplaced. I am His daughter—positioned intentionally, right where He desires me to be.

Where Am I in My Love for Jesus?

Life is empty without Jesus. His presence is constant, and His love is unwavering.

“I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from Your presence!”

– Psalm 139:7 (NLT)

A woman with eyes closed in prayer, conveying peace and introspection.

My love for Him is deeply rooted—woven into my soul—because He loved me first. In every season, I am learning to lean more fully into that love and to trust Him with every part of my life.

Where Am I in My Love for Others?

As I grow in God’s Word, my heart continues to be shaped to love genuinely—not selectively or conditionally. The Holy Spirit teaches me how to love both believers and non-believers with grace, humility, and truth. This is the love described so beautifully in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a, and it is the love I have for others that I strive to live out daily.

An Invitation

Come as you are. Grow with us.

Wherever you are in your journey—walking closely with Jesus or simply curious—pause for a moment and ask yourself: “Where am I?”

Growth begins with honesty, and transformation starts with one step. If these words have ignited your spirit, we invite you to join The SALT Connection program, which is designed to help women engage in Christian self-assessment, grow spiritually, build meaningful connections, and walk confidently in their God-given purpose.

Program Alumni Spotlight: Shellram Calhoun

November 17, 2025 | By |

We’re proud of our program graduates and praise God for their continued growth and mentoring of others to grow their faith and walk in Jesus! For this month, we’re highlighting Shellram’s journey to becoming one of God’s faithful scribes.

Why did you join The S.A.L.T. Connection program?

In 2019, I embarked on a journey to forge a deeper connection with God. For seven consistent years, I had faithfully attended church and participated in a Wednesday and Thursday 6 am prayer call. I soon began to recognize a gift developed through seven years of consistent 6 am prayer calls: the ability to convert powerful messages into mini devotionals and share them weekly with over 50 people.

When the calls ended, my passion for writing persisted. I joined The S.A.L.T. Connection’s mentoring program, intending to become a better writer and author a devotional.

However, God used the program to strip away my selfish ambition and deepen my faith. My class instructor affirmed my calling, telling me I was “one of God’s best scribes,” but emphasized the program was for transformation, not personal agenda.

Ultimately, this program transformed my life and led me to a stronger connection with God.

What challenges did our program help you with?

The nine months, from September 2019 to May 2020, felt like a continuous passage through sickness and death. It began with the loss of my aunt in September 2019. Then, as 2020 began, the world seemed to stop: March brought the terrifying COVID shutdown.

April was the cruelest month. I lost my Dad right before I had to take my midterm. The pain was immense, but the losses kept coming. Just thirty days later, in May, my uncle passed away.

Facing three major losses in such a short time, especially the devastating grief of losing my dad, was nearly impossible. Honestly, the only thing that allowed me to persevere through that overwhelming pain and sadness was the unwavering love and encouragement of my sister bond.

How has our program helped you pour into others?

The program helped me to become a better writer that listens to the small voice of my Heavenly Father who speaks to me through prayer and reading devotionals.  For the last five years I have used my scribe gift as a spiritual blogger for The S.A.L.T. Connection ministry.

I’m still waiting on a published devotional, but look at God, he’s definitely strengthening my writing skills and allowing me to share His word on a platform larger than 50 people. He always makes a way when you deny yourself, stay humble and draw closer to Him.

What is one main reason you would encourage another woman to join our program?

Ladies, if you’re seeking a safe place to lay your burdens down without judgment, learn to study and apply the word of God in your life. If an experience of true fellowship with mentors and instructors who pray, encourage and provide spiritual guidance to you then The S.A.L.T. Connection is waiting for you.

Will You Be S.A.L.T.?

April 11, 2025 | By |

Salt is used as a preservative to save meat and food from spoiling, as Jesus saves our souls from sin, death and hell. As a servant of Christ, you voluntarily set aside your personal rights in order to love, serve and obey the will of God.

In joining one of The S.A.L.T.  Connection programs, you will be making a commitment to God to continuously study His word, apply it in your life and share with others. As an active participant of The S.A.L.T. Connection, I chose to serve God by pouring back into the program after graduating from the nine-month session in 2020.

I’m not perfect; however, daily I seek Him, meditate on His word and share His word with others. There’s nothing better than an intimate relationship with Jesus.

  • Do you desire to help preserve the world, just as salt preserves food?
  • Are you willing to be a positive and godly influential force, which can add flavor and goodness?
  • Will you be S.A.L.T. by committing your time and enrolling in one of the two programs offered through our organization?

If so, please click on the link to enroll. God will bless you for your obedience!

The Many Blessings You Can Find Studying God’s Word

March 10, 2025 | By |

In 2019, my dad was diagnosed with cancer right at the beginning of me starting my first S.A.L.T. class and I asked “Lord, how can this be happening right now when I’m trying to get closer to you?

In 2020, COVID attacked the world; which was another distraction to keep me from studying the Bible. During my mid-term evaluation, Dad passed away. This was a crushing moment, but I clung to God’s Word and embraced His promises. I held my dad’s hand, read his favorite scripture, kissed him on his forehead, and prayed. It was then that I noticed a tear drop falling from his eye and I watched him transition to his new home with our Heavenly Father.

Without the Word of God being poured into me by an amazing group of Godly women, I don’t know where I would be. They provided the education and resources to help me know God more intimately through studying His word, applying it in my life and gaining a desire to pour into others. God’s Word tells us repeatedly that we should meditate on it day and night.  Committing to studying the Bible and applying it to your life, impacts your intimate relationship with Him. It enables you to fully reflect God’s character.

The S.A.L.T. Connection is a great place to start in having a better relationship with our Heavenly Father. We offer two programs to best suit your spiritual needs: a nine-week and nine-month program. Learn more about the programs on our website and don’t be afraid to sign up and watch God transform your life. The Triune God is the Christian belief that God is one being in three persons: the Father, son and Holy Spirit.

When God Says Go……Go!

January 17, 2025 | By |

From Fear to New Office Beginnings

In Genesis 12:1, the Lord told Abram to “Go”; “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you”. Abram obeyed and went without hesitation or questioning.

On June 13, 2022, I heard these same words from the Lord. He told me to “Go”; abandon the normal sources of personal identity and security. At that time, I had no idea what His plans were for me. I just knew that He wanted me to obey Him just as Abram did. I experienced fear, doubt and anxiety. Having worked in the corporate environment for 34 years, God was now telling me to step outside of my comfort zone and trust His guidance.

I’m sure many of you can relate to my experience. You hear God telling you to go, but fear will put you in bondage and stop you from pursuing something new that aligns with God’s purpose. “Go” is not just a passive feeling, it’s an active call to take concrete steps towards the direction God is guiding you. When God tells us to go, we need to go! We need to move forward and expect Him to provide everything we need so that we can be faithful in the small and big.

I’m now happy to say that my “going” has marked a new chapter for the S.A.L.T Connection.  God has blessed us with our first new office space so that we can now expand our ministry and continue His calling for us to “Go and make disciples.”

We cannot “go” on this journey alone.  We need your monetary support to help us cover the expenses for the rental of our office space, class materials and other operational needs.  If God is leading you, please click on the link below to give your generous donation so we can continue our great work for His Kingdom.
