A Reminder When Feeling Broken

Brokenness is the state or quality of being fractured, damaged, or no longer functioning correctly. It’s a state of emotional pain that makes you feel defeated and the trauma can crush you spiritually.

There have been times when I see or talk to others and I ask, “how are you doing?” Their response sometimes may be “life has been lifing.” What I interpret them saying is that life has thrown them some curve balls. The statement is becoming clearer to me. I feel we are allowing the troubles of life to consume us, stress us, and break us. We’re sleeping a lot, crying, overeating and so many other things that are not pleasing to God. We’ve forgotten that God is our source.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalms 34:18 (NIV)

During your moments of brokenness; God uses these moments to soften your heart, foster reliance on Him and begin a process of complete restoration. He’s allowing us to draw closer to Him.

If you’ve ever been in a season of brokenness or you’re in one right now say this out loud; “God, you are my source and you will meet all my needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

Let’s Make it Personal

Today, we will reflect on our personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Let’s practice personalizing Scripture so it comes alive in our everyday lives. Sometimes we read Scripture as instructions, but how often do we personalize it? How often do we turn God’s Word into daily affirmations?

Here, I’ll give you two examples of verses you can start with.

“I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding; I will acknowledge Him in all my ways, and He shall direct my paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

“Father God, I give all my cares and worries to You because You care for me.” (1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

Imagine how beautiful those personalized words from God’s Word sound coming back to the ears of our loving Father, who listens so attentively to His children.

Three things I can promise you’ll receive by personalizing Scripture:

Making it personal builds intimacy with God.
Making it personal deepens your focus.
Making it personal renews your mindset.

This month, we are celebrating our SALT graduates because they were reminded that spiritual growth happens when God’s Word becomes personal. Each graduate has chosen to invest in learning, growing, and allowing God’s truth to shape their lives.

Today, I encourage you to ask yourself: “What is my next step?”

Perhaps God is leading you to become a future SALT student and deepen your understanding of His Word. Perhaps He is calling you to become a donor, helping make it possible for others to experience the life-changing benefits of the SALT program.

Volunteer Spotlight: Jacque George

At the core of The S.A.L.T. Connection is a simple cycle: pouring into women so they can pour into others. In the feature below, Jacque George – on of our dedicated volunteers – shares a firsthand look at the transformation and spiritual fruit made possible through this ministry.

What is the most significant “God-moment” you’ve witnessed while volunteering that reaffirmed your decision to be part of this team?

One of the most significant God-moments for me has been watching the mission of The S.A.L.T. Connection come alive. What may begin as something I’m helping plan behind the scenes—a conversation, an invitation, or an act of service—becomes a moment God uses to touch a woman’s heart.

I’ve seen women feel encouraged, strengthened, and reminded that God still has purpose for their lives. Those moments have reaffirmed that ministry doesn’t only happen behind a podium. Sometimes it happens through preparation, communication, hospitality, and simply making sure someone knows they are seen and valued. That’s kingdom work.

How does the mission of SALT. align with your personal “life mission” or your current season of faith?

The mission of S.A.L.T. aligns beautifully with this season of my life where I am intentional about using my gifts to encourage, support, and build others.

What resonates with me most is the idea of pouring into women through God’s Word so they can pour into others. I believe serving isn’t just about what I can do—it’s about what God can do through a willing heart. Whether through my communication pieces, planning/organizing an event, encouragement, or simply showing up, I want my life to reflect a faith that strengthens others.

When you donate your time or resources to S.A.L.T., what specific “fruit” or results do you hope to see in the lives of the women being served?

My prayer is that women experience spiritual growth, renewed confidence, and a deeper understanding of God’s Word. I hope they leave every S.A.L.T. experience encouraged and equipped, knowing that their story matters. The fruit I hope to see is lasting transformation—women growing in faith, mentoring others, serving their families and communities, and becoming women who pour into the next generation with grace, wisdom, and love.

How did you first discover The S.A.L.T. Connection, and what was it about their mission to “pour into others” that resonated with you?

I discovered The S.A.L.T. Connection through ministry relationships and friendships that grew into something much deeper. Many of the women involved were first sisters in Christ through church connections, but over time those relationships became a true source of encouragement, support, and spiritual family.

What resonated with me most was the simplicity and strength of the mission: women being poured into through God’s Word so they can pour into others. That’s how God works. He fills us not only for ourselves, but so that what He has placed in us can bless someone else. When one woman is strengthened, the impact reaches her family, her church, her workplace, and her community.

For someone on the fence about getting involved or donating to The S.A.L.T. Connection, what is the one thing you want them to know about the heart of this organization?

I want them to know that the heart of The S.A.L.T. Connection is genuine. This ministry is about more than events and programs—it’s about investing in women intentionally and spiritually.

SALT creates space for women to grow in God’s Word, be encouraged in their walk, and discover that they still have something meaningful to offer. When you support this ministry, you’re helping create a ripple effect of faith, encouragement, and purpose that continues far beyond a single event or moment.I encourage anyone seeking a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord to join this program. Sometimes, life’s most painful moments are exactly where we find our true purpose. For SALT Connection alumna Tracey Williams, hitting rock bottom wasn’t the end of her story—it was the beginning of a profound spiritual awakening. In our latest spotlight feature, Tracey shares how a timely knock on her door and a deeply rooted community helped her transform her deepest pain into a powerful passion for helping others.

Why did you join The S.A.L.T. Connection program?

I initially avoided the program because I was intimidated by what it might require from me. I wasn’t for sure if I was ready to be challenged or vulnerable in that way. The Holy Spirit told Charita to come and get me, and I am forever grateful for her obedience. I eventually realized that the very reasons I was resisting were the exact reasons I needed it.

What challenges did our program help you with?

When I started the program, I was in the middle of a life-changing season. It helped me understand why I was going through what I was experiencing at that time and brought clarity, healing and spiritual growth. I was surrounded by a group of women who walked with me through that season, so I never felt like I was going through it alone.

How has our program helped you pour into others?

The program has strengthened my relationship with the Lord, deepening my understanding of his word and equipping me to encourage, support and pray for those around me with greater wisdom and compassion. It has also given me structure and the confidence to challenge myself rather than remain in my comfort zone.

What is one main reason you would encourage another woman to join our program?

I encourage anyone seeking a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord to join this program. It provides a supportive environment where you can grow in your faith without having to navigate the journey alone.

God is the Living Word

God’s living word is essential because it is active, powerful, and serves as a direct divinely inspired lifeline between God and humanity. It enables salvation, spiritual growth and transformation.

The Bible can never be completely comprehended. It breathes life into dead souls. It makes a difference in our thinking, behavior and attitude. It acts as a divine scalpel, performing spiritual surgery by reaching the hidden places where our own logic cannot go. It doesn’t just inform our minds; it resuscitates our spirits, breathing life into dead souls and re-aligning our thinking, behavior and attitude with His perfect will.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”

– Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

Meditating on God’s Word is like marinating in His truth—mulling over, reflecting, and dwelling on the Scriptures until they saturate our hearts. But knowledge alone is not the goal. Application of God’s living Word requires active engagement and obedience to Him.

If we merely observe the Word without applying it, we remain spiritually stagnant, missing the vital power it offers.We essentially refuse the very ‘spiritual surgery’ intended to heal us, leaving the living Word on the shelf while our hearts remain unchanged.

Real transformation requires us to move beyond hearing to active engagement with Him. When we step out in obedience to His living Word, the result is a life completely redefined. This is what I love about our ministry; it has transformed my life by showing me that God’s Word isn’t just a book—it’s alive in me.

Faith in Action: The S.A.L.T. Connection at Family Fest 2026

Some of our faithful volunteers recently had the joy of participating in the Real Options’ 2026 Family Fest, an event dedicated to celebrating families served over the last decade. It was a day defined by laughter, games, and the powerful spirit of community.

A Mission-Driven Partnership

The S.A.L.T. Connection’s presence at Family Fest was rooted in a deep alignment of values with our partner, Real Options. At the heart of our involvement was a shared commitment to sharing the message of Jesus and His love.

This event provided a beautiful stage to highlight our specific vision: Pouring God’s Word into women so they, in turn, can pour into others.

Why We Were There

Our volunteers spent the day engaging with community members to share the gospel and offer insight into who we serve. We were there to:

Foster Spiritual Growth: By pausing before the annual egg hunt to share the gospel, we aimed to help every family understand God’s love for them.
Build Lasting Connections: We sought to support families beyond the event by connecting them with local churches and trusted partners to build strong spiritual foundations.
Expand Our Community: The day was a success in outreach, with several women expressing interest in joining future S.A.L.T. programs.

Looking Ahead: Growing Our Reach

This fruitful day at Family Fest is just the beginning of our next chapter of growth. By leveraging our strong partnership with Real Options, The S.A.L.T. Connection is committed to branching out even further to serve more women throughout North Texas and beyond.

As we witness how these families have grown and thrived, we are more inspired than ever to expand our outreach, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to build a spiritual foundation that will impact generations to come.

Current Student Spotlight: Bridgette Williams

When I first walked through the doors of S.A.L.T., I came with a simple but heavy hunger: I wanted to learn how to truly study God’s Word. I didn’t just want to read it; I wanted to understand it. Looking back, I had no idea that this decision would ripple through every corner of my life—from my morning study habits to the way I connect with my grandson.

A New Way of Seeing

S.A.L.T. challenged me almost immediately to move past “surface-level” reading. I stopped skimming and started digging. Suddenly, I was learning Greek keywords to unlock the original depth of a passage. I began asking the hard questions: Who? What? When? Where? How? and Why? By exploring the history and the context of the era, the scriptures stopped feeling like stories from a distant past and started feeling like a living map for my daily life. This shift has completely transformed my habits; I now spend more time in the Word than ever before, and more importantly, I’m focused on applying those truths to my day-to-day walk.

Restoring the Circle

One of the most unexpected blessings has been the restoration of my community. As I grew in Christ, my lifestyle began to change, and I found my old circle of friends diminishing—we simply didn’t have much in common anymore. It was a lonely transition, but S.A.L.T. filled that void with a new group of sisters. These are women I truly enjoy spending time with, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Perhaps the most precious fruit of this growth is happening in my own home. My grandson recently told me he missed the times I used to teach him about Jesus. Hearing that tugged at my heart, and I’m so grateful to say we have started studying together again. I’m passing down the very tools I’ve been given.

Led by the Spirit

I cannot speak about this journey without mentioning my teachers, Charita and Royetta. They are the embodiment of integrity and heart. There were so many moments in class where the planned lesson would shift because God was moving in the room. Watching them yield to the Holy Spirit’s leading was nothing short of amazing, and their confidence in sharing their gifts has rubbed off on me.

Sharing with Boldness

Today, I feel equipped. When friends ask for prayer or have questions about the Gospel, I don’t hesitate. I respond with a boldness I didn’t have before because I know the truth, and I know how to find it in the text. I find myself constantly excited for the next lesson, ready to do another deep dive.

To any woman considering this program: join us. You won’t just be studying scripture; you will be experiencing a move of God. You will watch yourself grow, you will gain a sisterhood, and if you are open to it, you will find yourself completely transformed.

Called to be Transformed

Have you ever wondered what it means to present our bodies as a living sacrifice or to be transformed by the renewing of your mind?

For a long time, this scripture overwhelmed me, like a position in Christ I could never reach. But through prayer and seeking God through His word. I began to understand something deeper: God was not asking me for perfection; He was asking me to surrender/sacrifice.

I found out that God does not want part of our lives; He desires our whole life. When we surrender ourselves as a “living sacrifice,” we are honoring Him in our daily lives by the way we think, live, and act. With that being said, the world is in opposition to God’s word; therefore, the world will try to make us think and see things differently as it relates to God and His word.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

– Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)

We must remember that transformation doesn’t happen overnight; it happens through an ongoing relationship with Jesus. Therefore, we must renew our minds in Christ so we may be transformed in His likeness. Our goal and our purpose are to know God and make Him known by the way we live, and that will prove that His Spirit lives within us.

“Lord, help me to renew my mind and live a life fully surrendered to You. Shape me into Your image and use my life for Your purpose, in Jesus’ name, amen.” – Special Prayer
